International Games Day falls on December 20. What better way to celebrate it than with the entire family - pets included? Consider these reasons to engage your pets with a little active play.
Games are more than just fun. They are also a great way to spend more time as a family. With a little planning, they can also be a great way to keep pets engaged and refine training.
A good game can be any type that will engage pets. However, energetic pets can really benefit from playing games that keep them moving. Here are a few of our favorites to help make Game Day fun in your house.
• Try your hand at basic agility training by setting up a backyard obstacle course
• Play fetch or Frisbee
• Use treats for a rewarding game of hide-and-seek (the treat)
• Move a laser pointer around the room for them to chase
• Dangle a feathered toy so they can swat at it
• Play hide-and-seek using paper bags
• Play peek-a-boo or hide-and-seek
• Have a dance-off with your pet bird
• Let them practice catching a small treat that you toss
By now you can see that games are great for pets. At Pet Hospitals of Hawaii, we know that it takes more than play to keep them healthy and fit. Bring your pet to one of our three locations to ensure they are ready for some game-day fun.
