Just as you should have a plan for your home in case of an emergency fire, you need to also think about your pet, and what you could do to protect and help them in these types of situations. Develop a Plan

Get the Whole Family Involved 

Make sure your entire family knows about the fire safety plan, understands what to do in case a fire occurs and commits to being on board with you. You will want your children to know what their role is if there is a fire. Remind family members to escape first, then call or ask a neighbor to call 911. It can be helpful to designate someone who can help with the animals. For example, if you escape with your animals, having a neighbor, or another safe home nearby to go to, can ensure they are in a safe place for the time being. When the whole family is involved, it is easier to keep everyone, both furry and human, together.
